LAUSD Seeks HS Students for Superintendent's Student Advisory Council

The Division of Instruction's "Student Involvement, Development and Empowerment Unit" is seeking members to the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC). ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1) High school students who attend LAUSD high schools.
2) 2.5 or better GPA. No failing grades or unsatisfactory marks on the 20 week report card.
3) Must be able to balance SSAC and school related responsibilities
4) Must be endorsed by the school principal.
5) Must successfully complete the application process, including a personal interview.
6) Must be able to serve a one-year term
7) Experience in a school leadership position is desired but not required.
Note: If eligible, current SSAC members may continue on the council.

Cohort Interest Survey 2019-2020

For the next two years (for 7th and 8th grade), you will be part of one of the PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) at Foshay Learning Center. At the link is a list of the four PLC options and their requirements for incoming 7th grade students.

Foshay's National Hispanic Scholar Recipient 2017-2018

Please congratulate current Health Careers Academy Senior, Wendy Rodriguez, for achieving recognition as a scholar in the National Hispanic Recognition Program.

Foshay's Beyond The Bell After-School Program Student Wins Essay Contest

Juan Contreras, one of our Fabulous Foshay middle school students, was one of two LAUSD winners for the "Do the Write Thing" National Essay Competition. Juan, along with his mother, were flown to Washington, D.C. to be recognized for his essay, as well as having it published in the Library of Congress. Following the visit to Washington, Juan was invited to meet and receive a City of Los Angeles--Certificate of Recognition by our Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti. Congratulations Juan for your great work!
