Foshay Learning Center (8th Grade) MS Culmination 2019 Information

Congratulations to our Class of 2019 MS Students who will be graduating at the Galen Center on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 11:00am.  The address of the Galen Center is: 3400 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90089.

Commonly Asked Questions:
Will parents and family members need tickets to attend?  Due to the capacity of the Galen Center, tickets will not be needed for parents and family members.
Does the Galen Center have Handicapped Accessible Seating?  Yes, the Galen Center is compliant with the American Disabilities Act (ADA) and has seating and entrances that are accessible for guests who need accommodations.
When are the MS Culmination Practices?  There will be three practices for the HS students and all will take place at Foshay Learning Center:  May 28th, May 29th and May 31, 2019.
When will the Middle School students receive their Caps and Gowns for the ceremony?  Following the final grade check, 8th Grade students will be able to pick up their caps and gowns on June 4, 2019.  
Will parents need to pay for the caps and gowns?  No.  The 8th Grade Teachers and Students participated in a fundraising drive to sell chocolate bars, which helped to pay for the caps and gowns.
What time do the 8th grade students need to arrive at the culmination?  Eighth grade students should arrive dressed in their caps and gowns at 10:00am, one hour prior to the start of the ceremony.  Students will be lined up by Small Learning Community and led into the Galen Center by during the Student and Faculty Procession.
What is the dress code for students?  Senior students should wear attire that is appropriate for the occasion. Dress, or "Semi-Dressy" attire is recommended and has been practiced by the Foshay students through their normal small learning community events.    For safety reasons, students should not wear shoes that will impede their mobility into the Galen Center, or would cause unnecessary pain (i.e.--Stiletto Heels) during periods of extended standing before the ceremony begins.  
How much does parking cost? Due to the location of the ceremony, parking will be approximately $10 per vehicle at one of the nearby USC Parking Facilities.  It is highly recommended that all families use public transportation to arrive at the Galen Center, to avoid paying for parking.  
When will the Eighth Grade students pick up their Certificates of Completion?  On Friday, June 7, 2019, at 9:00am, students will be able to pick up their High School Diplomas.  All overdue library fines and missing textbook fees must be paid prior to the release of the certificates.  All fines must be paid at the Student Store and students will be given an Auxilary Student Body Receipt for their payments.
